New Book Review: God: The Architect

June 21, 2020 by Marshall Wheeler

GertJan de Leeuw's book, God: The Architect, is packed with information for the serious spiritual seeker. Not only does the author give the levels of progression through spiritual growth, but he also explains pitfalls to consider at each level.

Divine Intention for Generations

He also explains the generations and God's intention for each generation. This explanation includes the Silent Generation, Baby Boomers, Gen X and Gen Y. His insight of the Divine aspects of each generation and their failures is eye-opening.

Mr. de Leeuw also provides a clear look at society and the trends which are degrading it. After reading this section of the book, I see how easily I accept some things without questioning their validity. I don't want to reveal too much, but it's easy to see how Twitter is affecting our language and therefore our intellectual development after reading his book.

Modern Society

Every one that reads this book will re-evaluate many of the things that are accepted without question. Our society is based on materialism and seeing the impact of it through the author's eyes made me re-think many of the acceptable behaviors I endorse.

Add to all this his prophecies for 2012, and you have a mind-blowing book that everyone will want to read. This book is not only for the spiritual seeker, but for anyone who desires to look at the psychological impact of our every day lives.

Considering our development as individuals and our impact on society, this book invites healthy evaluation of everything we are and everything we do. Community leaders, parents, teachers and churches may all desire to make changes which promote Self-individuation on a grand scale. Hopefully, those who desire a Divine society can learn from this author many things to implement desirous changes for our future.

Deprogramming Ego

For those desirous of deprogramming ego, I found his insights fresh and new. No where else have I read of the practices he mentions. It is obvious he is a scholar of Vedic scriptures which are the oldest scriptures available. Insight from these scriptures provides valuable information for all of us on the spiritual path and desiring a spiritual society.

Good Book Reviews

All good book reviews try to tell about the book without revealing too much information and I haven't said enough to require a spoiler alert. However, the prophecies alone should entice some to read the book.

Inception – Architectural Filmmaking for the Future

January 14, 2020 by Marshall Wheeler

Filmmaking making mastery created some of the most modern and advanced architectural technology in cinematic history. In recent years, nothing has quite been as stunning and state-of-art as the architectural vision of ‘Inception.’ Starring Leonardo DiCaprio, ‘Inception’ is described as the movie that explores the “architecture of the mind.” The storyline offers an exploratory look at the world of architecture from a very superior spectrum and revolves around the recruitment of an architect student named Ariadne. Adriadne is portrayed by Ellen Page of ‘Juno’ fame. The recruiter known as Cobb is portrayed by the amazing DiCaprio’s.

Their ability to enter into an alternate realty of the mind through architectural vision is a premise never seen quite like this before. This ability is depicted in the most innovating way ever since before in cinematic form. ‘Inception’ introduces an alternate reality within the mind and brings it to life. Through the concept of a parallel world within the mind, the notion of architectural structure and deconstruction begins. The film’s director Christopher Nolan brings sheer genius together with cinematic magic to create a most surreal and alternative world within a world. Nolan who is known for his dark film style was in his element.

When it came to the visual context of this ultimate in sci-fi technologically advanced filmmaking, Nolan did not hold back. The exploration of interior mind is ultimately like exploring the very last frontier known to man. The concept may seem far fetched at first, but as the film progresses the concept of the mind consisting layers within an architectural realm unfolds with splendid results. The film was shot in Paris, Tangiers, and Toyko. While both Paris and Tokyo are noted for their architectual significance throughout history, Tangier presented the raw aspects of architecture in the film in its representation of the nation of Mombasa.

The film is remarkable and massive in scale with angular interior images that formulate the interior of the mind. While exploring the mind through architecture, the audience is treated to a gamut of sensational visionary interior spaces and architectural landscape. Through what is known as dreamscape, the enlisted architect uses her knowledge and skills to ‘bend the rules of physics.” The film challenges the basic premise of design, reality and architecture in order to access the realms traditionally kept off limits. See photos of the mind bending architecture here.
